Homosexuals Are Often The Most Intolerant Among The Intolerants
July 20, 2012
Thursday posting after posting on FB and LGBT blogs and websites were taking a poke and expressing outrage at Chick-Fil-A and company president Dan Cathy and his stand on marriage being reserved for and only between men and women.
And while Cathy is expressing his personal view on a personal subject matter, this release from the company is not enough to placate the Rainbow and seems to just add more fodder, taken out of context of course, for the bloggers and website runners.
“The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect — regardless of belief, creed and sexual orientation,” the statement said. “We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators. Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”
Which brings to mind how a business either private or with stockholders spends its money and gives it to what group or PAC and the aformentioned’s political or social stance is a matter for that business to deal with in regards to its own political and social conscience and no one else’s.
This outrage of course is nothing new and has been going on for years. When I first started doing Focus On The Rainbow back in 2009 there was outrage over Jamaica and its stance against homosexuals.
Headed by Wayne Besen and others, they poured rum and beer down into the sewer in front of the Stonewall Inn in New York City. Last I knew Jamaica is still a country, makes beer and rum and still has an anti-gay stance. Besen et al should have gotten a citation for illegal dumping in my opinion. All that was done was to waste perfectly good rum and beer.
Then of course there’s Catholicism and the Mormons, both religious beliefs are still around last time I checked. The list goes on and on and on ad nauseam.
Even the discount chain Target was attacked, the same chain which not too long ago was vilified and is now praised for offering same-sex marriage greeting cards.
There’s an old saying which I’ll add to, chose your battles wisely otherwise you look like a real fucking dumbass.
Yes there have been battles chosen and won like Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and in spite of a group like Get Equal and the dim wits affiliated with the group. For those who oft quote Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr they are often the most intolerant to those who have opposing viewpoints.
And like Cheetos stained pajama wearing kids they make fun of their opposition instead of offering useful opinion changing dialog. But then that wouldn’t placate their readers and draw hits to their blogs and websites.
Children grow up and stop looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.
Yes I love John Lennon’s song Imagine and what it calls for, but I’m also an adult and a realist in the way things are and will be for a very long time.
Change, if it comes does so with dialog not brow beating as all that causes is resentment and the hardening of the heart and won’t change the mind of your opposition.
Do I think the children will listen ? … I’m a realist remember.
